Quick Setup Guide

Add your WordPress site
Go to the Sites tab and connect your WordPress URL with application credentials.
Option A — Claude.ai (browser)

Open claude.ai → click your profile → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

Set Name to WordPress MCP and paste the MCP URL from above into Remote MCP server URL.

Expand Advanced settings and paste your Client ID and Client Secret from above, then click Add.
Option B — Claude Desktop

Click Copy Claude Desktop Config above.

Paste it into your claude_desktop_config.json file and restart Claude Desktop.

You'll see the 🔨 tools icon in Claude — start typing to manage your WordPress site.

Step-by-step guide:
  1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel (yoursite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Go to Users → Profile (or Users → All Users → Edit your user)
  3. Scroll down to the "Application Passwords" section
  4. Type a name like WP MCP in the "New Application Password Name" field
  5. Click "Add New Application Password"
  6. Copy the generated password (looks like: AbCd EfGh IjKl MnOp) — it won't be shown again
  7. Paste it in the Application Password field above (spaces are fine)
⚠️ Application Passwords require WordPress 5.6+ and HTTPS on your site. If the section is missing, your host may have disabled it — install the Application Passwords plugin.
